Woke up to sirens

http://www.walb.com/Global/story.asp?S=7788995

We live next to this highway, it is a 4 lane, but between us and the highway are trees and a fence.
The part this happened at was in direct line with my front door.
I kept hearing more and more sirens and told DH that it must be a bad accident, I got up and opened the front door and could see a tons of firetrucks, police, ambulances, and a crime scene van, I knew then that somebody had died.
I left to take oldest to school and took our normal route, well they rerouted the on and off exits from that part to down the road I take every morning to school, and then there was a accident on that road, someone pulled out in front of someone, why do people drive so crazy!
It is now 10am and the last of the emergancy crew just left.
Why would someone be walking in the middle of the highway?

If you watch the video, this looked to be quite a while after it happened, they had blocked the road with tons of police cars and firetrucks to keep the other lanes from seeing body parts, and most of the police cars are gone form this picture.

Changes

Do you like change?

I do, well in some things, except for my computer.
My husband has always been a computer guy since he was a teen, he has gone from working in a computer store to repair to now being a manager for one of the big computer companys, I do not like him touching MY computer, I start the eye twitching just him sitting at it.
I am one of those girls where once I get use to the way it works leave it alone! I about cried when I had to go to IE 7.
I walk in last night to find him sitting at my computer, well warrior comes out in me, just think of those Capitol One commercials with the Vikings, all is well I think, he was putting a newer version of Microsoft office on my computer, he said I would need it for my new job, which is true, but I have yet to open it and look at it, scares me.
He has been trying to talk me into Windows Vista, forget that, sword play will come into this fight!,lol Leave me and my XP alone, I think Bill Gates should have to consult me before he changes things. LOL

Life changes, I can deal with those, Lord knows I have been through enough of them.

As of tomorrow DD's 1 friend will be riding the bus home with her from school and spending until her mom gets off of work that evening with us, should be interesting, double homework, double giggles, because all those 2 have to do is look at each other and know what the other is going to say, and giggle.

Oh what an exciting day.

Yesterday morning I was trying to get out the door to get Kaylynn to school, normally we are out the door at 8am, but I am so glad we did not, at about 8:03am the phone rang, it was my brother Stuarts cell on the caller ID, I thought maybe he was on break and calling to say hi, nope! I could barely hear him, I had to ask twice, "what are you saying" finally I heard him, please come, a beam fell on me. He works for a steel company.
David was still here at the house, I yelled to him what happened and that he had the girls, felt like it took me forever to get there even though his job is right behind us, well there are woods between us, I have never broke the speed limit but yesterday I did, they had men posted at several places waiting on the ambulance so I was directed to where he was, they had already moved him by the time I got there, he was in a office shaking so bad he could hardly talk, all he kept saying was how bad he hurt, I heard the sirens for the ambulance coming as I had gotten out of my car, so I knew it would not be long before they got there.
They told me it was his shoulder and I pulled back the collar on his shirt, it looked bad, bruised, bleeding and appeared to be broken, I did not care who was in the room, I immed. started praying for him, no broken bones in the name of Jesus! EMT's got there and looked him over and now I could here what happened, the beam was on a crane and it shifted in weight and started headed for him, it hit his hard hat first and then slammed into his shoulder knocking him down, his hard hat saved his life! Praise the Lord for plastic.
They looked him over and asked him if he wanted to go by ambulance to the hospital or I could take him, he said he wanted me to take him, they put him in my car told me not to speed but to drive smmoth, no bumps, I was like ok, where I just drove through to get to him is all dirt and potholes, but I did good and did not make him yell in pain, just kept talking to him to keep his mind off the pain, we got to the hospital, the EMT's must have radioed ahead because they took him on back, by the time we got there his wife was already at the hospital, I waited in that waiting room for hours, I knew he would be in x-ray, and he had to have a drug/alcohol test since it was a work related accident, of course he passed those. Fianlly I went to the desk to ask how he was, and I was allowed to go back, we waited on his x-rays and finally they came back NO BROKEN BONES! He does have a really bad bruised ligament and will have to see the orthopedic docter on Friday morning before he can be released to go back to work.
What a day I am telling you there is never a dull moment around here.

A new member of the family

Actually we have 2 new family members, my new Sister in law, whom we all love and adore, and Lena our new found puppy. And I have no idea how to get these pictures where I want them!

A new season

Yes a new season for our family. For the past 12 years (1995) we have raised my siblings,(4) well not all of them in 12 years, over the years they moved on with their own lives. This past December the last one moved on with his life. WOOHOO! In that 12 years we had 2 daughters of our own, and for the first time it will just be us and our daughters.
We are so excited at where we are right now in our lives, things could not be better, spirtiually we are where we need to be for right now, it is still a learning process, but wow at what finally has sunk in after being a Christian for many years. We are still under construction in this house, have been since June 2007, but by the end Of February things on the inside should be 100% complete.
So bear with me as I am new to this blogging thing.
